Welcome to Ruuts Africa

Showcasing the Ghanaian culture and fashion through slit and kaba attire

Creation of Ruuts Africa and Slit and Kaba festival

On the 26th of February 2023, an idea sprout up after seeing a video of women in beautiful Mama/Bo/Ntoma Slit and Kaba of different styles on Tiktok.

An inspiration came for me to create something similar out of that video and to bring people of similar tastes onto this huge platform. The name RuutS AFRICA was picked to represent Ghana and Africa as a whole. Meaning right from the Ruuts.

We’re hoping Subsequent events will be held in first week in January of every year so as to capture Ghanaians abroad who came visiting during December. They can attend such a beautiful event before finally leaving.

Historical background of Slit and Kaba.

The Slit and Kaba originated from the Northern region of Ghana, specifically among the Dagomba people. It was initially worn by the chiefs and the rich people in the society to distinguish them from the poor. However, as time went by, it became a popular attire among women of all classes in the region.
